The viral Muji wide-leg trousers are back in stock, and the entire Glamour office is obsessed

I wear wide leg trousers pretty much everyday and I only have a certain few that I regularly wear on rotation, so when I saw that Muji's double layered Hakama trousers had been restocked online, I ran to the nearest store to the GLAMOUR office to try them on.

Hakama trousers are a traditional style of Japanese trousers, conventionally designed to be worn over a kimono. They were initially intended to be worn for riding, labour and martial arts so provide comfort and flexibility. According to Muji, they were also originally made to be worn by women. The characteristics of the pleating and wide leg give them freedom of movement and create a fashion statement that gives them a unique silhouette.

Muji have simplified the design to create stylish and comfortable wide leg trousers for both women and men. They have been all over my TikTok feed, with numerous people styling them. I remember first seeing them on my phone and immediately hunted them down. What? From Muji?! I didn't even realise they did clothing! But sadly they were out of stock, and have been a long time – until now.

Whenever I look for an item of clothing that I see on social media, the first thing I do is look at the price before I even consider purchasing them, and was surprised to see how relatively inexpensive they were at £59.95. I personally think they look much more designer than their high-street price tag.

When I rushed to the Covent Garden store, I couldn't believe that all 4 colours were still available; black, navy, mocha brown and light beige. I opted for the black as it's more versatile for my wardrobe.

Now, I haven't bought a new pair of trousers in a long time. Trying to find a pair of trousers that fit my wide hips is always a struggle, but my usual size medium fitted fine. They sat beautifully!

With a button fastening and zip on the side, they are very easy to put on. The cropped leg is perfect for any summer outfit, whether at work or everyday. The legs are balloon-like and so much fun to twirl in, especially in the wind (I had a lot of fun taking these pictures!). Another element you notice is a white thread running through the pleats on the hem. From my research, this isn't a necessary feature of the trousers and can be cut away, however, I think it adds another detail which is kind of cute.

Since wearing the Muji Hakama trousers to the office, I've got all the Glamour girls obsessed. I've never received so many compliments, especially during the first day of wearing them. And because they're so comfy, I feel like I'm wearing pyjamas to the office. Who can say no to that?!

I'm already considering getting them in the other shades, so I might have to say goodbye to this month's pay.
