Do you choose your holiday destination based on whether it’ll look good on your Instagram feed? Of course, you’d like to think you don’t. You’d like to think your holiday experience is about exactly that: your holiday experience. Not for the benefit of someone you met once in Fresher's week. But be honest with yourself. If you're anything like us - despite intentions of spending our holidays digitally detoxing - choosing a hotel which has photogenic backdrops in abundance is quite the bonus. Even if you never end up sharing the snaps. (Who are we kidding?)
The past year has got us dreaming of holidays of the future like never before. Not because the weekend breaks we've had in the UK haven't been idyllic... they have, we're just looking forward to the day we can jet off to Italy/the Caribbean/enter name of similarly far-flung destination here without feeling all the fear and anxiety.
So, in the name of guilt-free holidays of the future (2021, please pull through), we've scoured the feeds of the world's most dominant influencers to curate a list of the most Instagrammable hotels on the planet. From Italy to the Maldives, these wanderlust-inducing properties are screaming for you to visit, whether that's on an end-of-year getaway or next summer. (PSA: It's never too early to make a booking).
Here are 9 of the most Instagrammable hotels in the world for your perusal..

1. Il Pellicano, Tuscany, Italy
Instagram content
If it’s Italy you’re dreaming of, Il Pellicano should be at the top of your bucket list. Once a private villa belonging to an American heiress, this five-star Porto Ercole property was founded as a hotel in the mid-1960’s. It sits on a rocky Tuscan beach in close proximity to two (just as stunning) sister hotels called Mezzatorre and La Postia Vecchia. Don’t fancy a trip down the road? Waste away the day in the saltwater pool.
2. Le Sirenuse, Amalfi Coast, Italy
Instagram content
Elsewhere in Italy (on the stylish and influencer-adored Amalfi Coast) sits Le Sirenuse. Once an aristocratic Neopolitan family’s summer home, it was more recently converted into a hotel (much to our delight) by four siblings - and the result is something beautiful. It boasts among the best views of Positano imaginable with al fresco dining on the cliff’s edge, charming bedrooms, a gym, a spa and an outdoor pool which overlooks the glistening blue ocean.
3. Hotel Airelles Gordes, La Bastide, France
Instagram content
We're head-over-heels in love with Hotel Airelles Gordes, a luxury five-star hotel which dominates the charming village of Gordes in the heart of the magical Luberon region. The former stately home - which retains all of its charm despite vast renovations - sits high up on the hill, overlooking the stunning landscape below. It boasts large terraces designed for guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Luberon adorned with dry-stone walls, century-old olive trees and majestic cypress trees. Inside, the interiors are sumptuous and retain the memory of those who once walked the corridors through portraits, artefacts, leather-bound books and antique furniture.
4. Sani resort, Halkidiki, Greece
Instagram content
Much like the Rockit Rocker and Tommee Tippee blackout blinds, Sani is a parent-pleasing recommendation that’s passed around the nursery gates and NCT Whatsapp groups like Gospel - and pretty much every school holiday snap on your Instagram grid will most likely be captured in one of its lagoon-esque pools. Sani virgin? Here’s the drill: Sani Resort is an ‘if-you-know-you-know’ resort in Halkidiki, Greece, featuring five beachfront hotels: Sani Beach, Sani Club, Porto Sani, Sani Asterias and Sani Dunes. Nestled in a 1,000-acre nature reserve, Sani is the first certified carbon-neutral resort in Greece that boasts its own private marina with over 40 restaurants and bars, luxury boutique stores, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, the football academy in association with Chelsea FCF and the Bear Grylls Survival Academy. Sani Resort belongs to the Sani/Ikos Group, which are seriously well-versed in smoothing the pain points of travelling with children to elevate a desperately-needed family holiday to something that actually feels like a holiday. Sani is made up of five hotels spread across 7 kilometres of Carribean-esque blue flag coastline. There's Sani Beach: the main hotel in the resort’s hub, which is perfect for those who love being right in the action. Sani Dunes is a recently revamped former adults-only hotel that now welcomes kids (although it doesn’t have a kids club) and has an incredible location right on the beach. Porto Sani is the perfect fusion of child-friendly and luxury. Then there's Sani Club, which is further out and ideal for those looking for a more tranquil experience, and Sani Asterias - an uber luxe, money-is-no-object beachfront hotel that’s just had a total revamp.
Restaurants are spread across the hotels and the port – and the main kids activities and water sports are based at Sani Beach. No matter which hotel you’re staying at, you can walk between each in around 20 minutes to experience the resort’s pools, restaurants and activities – and there are golf buggies and complimentary shuttle cars everywhere too. Thanks to its sheer size, private beaches, Michelin-starred restaurants, high-end boutiques and private marina, Sani feels like a luxurious microcosm, offering frazzled families with excitable children huge variety within 20 minutes’ walk. Add it to your Insta-friendly family bucket list.
5. Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas, Baa Atoll, Maldives
Instagram content
On the hunt for the best honeymoon hotels in the world? Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas is surely a contender, surrounded by nothing but turquoise ocean and white sandy beaches. It rises out of the ocean in all its splendour, ensuring the design pays homage to the seafarers of the past through the fusing of Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs and indigenous materials.

6. Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France
Instagram content
This Four Seasons hotel invites you to experience the glamour, splendour and timeless chic of the French Riviera. It boasts six bars and restaurants, a plush interior, excellent service and it's within easy reach of the hidden gems of the Côte d’Azur. Stay in the Four Seasons Pool Suite for the ultimate treat and privacy.
7. Amangiri, Canyon Point, Utah
Instagram content
Every supermodel, influencer and celebrity worth their place on the 'Gram has stayed at Amangiri - a luxury property in the Utah desert. In fact, you've probably already got that pool shot saved to your collection. It's set amongst over 500 acres of mesa-filled landscape on the Colorado Plateau and is totally private and secluded. There's even a glamping experience on offer if you want to take social distancing to new heights.
8. Casa Cook, Rhodes, Greece
Instagram content
Casa Cook is a lifestyle boutique hotel in Kolymbia Rhodes which we've seen pop up on our feeds more times than we can count over the past 18 months. Largely in throwback form, given the current situation. It's an adults-only hideaway with the island's most glorious nooks and off-the-beaten track activities on your doorstep. Dip into the pool from the private veranda of your bohemian-inspired bedroom or swing in your hammock to a backdrop of DJ beats and a stunning sunset, all before a yoga class, all manner of excellent Grecian food and even better cocktails.
9. Hotel Villa Honegg, Ennetbürgen, Switzerland
Instagram content
This hotel just might win the award for the most breathtaking view - and the best infinity pool. Surrounded by the Swiss Alps and with views over the lake below, there is more photo potential here than thinkable. The interiors are pretty chic, too...
10. The Villas at AYANA Resort, Jimbaran, Bali
Instagram content
Bali's Instagram opps. are second to none; never more so than if you stay at The Villas at AYANA Resort. Need proof? There are 12 pools, each with different Instagram potential, and there's a floating Champagne brunch on offer for the dreamiest poolside pic.
11. The Embassy Valletta Hotel, Valletta, Malta
Instagram content
The Embassy Valletta Hotel features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and bar - no wonder it's so instagrammable. With stunning hotel rooms to capture numerous OOTDs in, the hotel also provides guests with a sun terrace so you can watch the sunset (and take pics of it for your stories, of course). Wait until you discover all the places to explore near by, like the Upper Barrakka Gardens and the Manoel Theatre for example.
