Taylor Lianne Chandler - the girlfriend of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps - has told Radar Online she was born intersex, which means she was born with both sets of reproductive organs.
She told the gossip website: "I was born with male genitalia with no testicles, but I also have a uterus and no ovaries."
It's believed that Michael, who is currently in rehab serving a six-month suspension from competitive swimming after his DUI in September - wasn't aware of his girlfriend's intersex news until she wrote to him recently.
"I never lied to him," Chandler insists. "We were together for such a short period of time, I never had a chance to tell him about my life."
Will their romance continue when he comes out of rehab? Taylor isn't sure: "Michael is a brand, and dating someone like me may not be the best thing. I just hope he follows his heart and not what his people tell him."

Yesterday, Taylor appeared to reference some of the articles written about her when she wrote on Facebook: "Two steps forward and 100 steps backwards. That is what life feels like to me right now. In a world of educated people that had all the facts of intersex and what it means and then to sell a magazine say[ing] Michael Phelps is dating a MAN. I have cried now for an hour, thrown up anything in my system till I dry heaved. I just can't believe this is happening in 2014!"

Last week, in a lengthy Facebook post, Taylor wrote: "I was born intersex and named David Roy Fitch at birth. By the time I could walk and talk I made it clear I was a girl and dressed as one … The problem is I have made friends that I never told and dated and married people that knew nothing of my past. If you don't understand what intersex is, Google it. I was never a man, never lived as a man. No one can say they knew me as a man or produce a photo of me as a man."
