If you have always dreamed of an Australian Made in Chelsea, we have good news: introducing Made in Bondi, Channel 4's latest reality offering, that takes the tried and tested format to the sunny shores of Sydney — specifically, to the beachy, coastal area of Bondi.
The show, which comes from the producers of Made in Chelsea, lands on Channel 4 today and promises a ton of drama, all set against the gorgeous, laid-back backdrop of Bondi. Just like the British show, Made in Bondi's cast are some of the young elites of the area, whose lives revolve around an endless cycle of fancy parties, boozy brunches and shopping trips.
Although the show looks seriously juicy, some viewers have already raised a few concerns about the cast — namely, that it's, well, not very diverse at all.
A quick glimpse through the cast list and you'll see that there isn't a huge amount of diverse representation, which is disappointing, to say the least.
As one local told Yahoo!, “This is one of the most diverse suburbs in Sydney with such a strong sense of community but that is never highlighted.” Reviews have also noted that the cast didn't exactly offer a realistic depiction of life in the suburb. As a Guardian review put it, the show ”tried to sell a false and flat ideal of Australia."
Here are the main Made in Bondi cast members in the first season of the show…
