Trust Jack Thorne to give us another harrowing in-depth look at boyhood, am I right? Who better to adapt the 1960 William Golding classic Lord of the Flies? Growing up as a boy in Britain isn't always easy – it's something he captured in vivid, horrifying detail in last year's Adolescence. And although his latest project may be set 60 years ago, it remains a vital, contemporary study of masculinity.
Adolescence introduced us all to the colossal talent of Owen Cooper – and Lord of the Flies has brought us a whole host of new up-and-comers to watch.
Let's meet the cast…
The BBC has adapted William Golding's debut novel into a four-part series.

Winston Sawyers as Ralph
Winston Sawyers plays Ralph, the show's main character. Ralph is the initial leader of the boys on the island and once things descend into chaos, the rival of Jack. He is hunted in the show's final episode and eventually speaks to the naval officer who rescues the group in the final episode.
Sawyers is fairly new to the world of TV. This marks his second professional role following last year's Swedish crime thriller The Crow Girl, in which he played Joe. Sawyers is following in the footsteps of his father, actor Parker Sawyers, who you may know from Monsoon, Pine Gap or Infinite Storm.
Lox Pratt as Jack
Lox Pratt stars as Jack, the dangerous, unpredictable and, eventually, violent leader of the hunting pack.
Although this is Pratt's first role, he is already busy with his next – and it's a big one: Pratt is set to star in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter remake as Draco Malfoy. It seems he's pretty good at playing the baddies!
David McKenna as Piggy
David McKenna plays Piggy, an asthmatic boy who finds himself a target of Jack's group. McKenna hails from Belfast and has previously only appeared in school plays – based on his resume, he's already starred in quite a few musicals.
According to Metro, McKenna was diagnosed with kidney failure at just two weeks old. At the age of four, his father donated a kidney for his first transplant. Six years later, his mother gave another after the first transplant failed.
Ike Talbut as Simon
Ike Talbut plays the moral compass of the group, Simon. It's his first professional role. According to Instagram, he's a member of the Musical Youth Company of Oxford and the Oxford Operatic Society.
Cassius Flemyng as Eric
Cassius Flemyng plays Eric, while his twin brother, Noah Flemyng, plays Eric's twin Sam. The Flemyng twins make their TV debut in Lord of the Flies, but they have a long history in the acting world. Their father is actor Jason Flemyng, known for Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, while their grandfather was Scottish director Gordon Flemyng.
The twins have also worked as voiceover actors. Cassius recently leant his voice to the PS5 game Planet Coaster.
Jack Thorne has done it again.

Rafael de Belligny as Robert
Rafael de Belligny plays Robert, one of Jack's hunters who portrays the boar during their hunt and is almost killed by the other boys.
De Belligny is set to star in this year's horror film Tommy Taffy as Matt alongside Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover.
Thomas Conner as Roger
Thomas Conner is a Scottish actor who plays the loner Roger, who becomes one of Jack's hunters and eventually commits one of the most heinous acts on the island.
Freddie Lee-Grey as Percival
Freddie Lee-Grey plays little Percival, one of the smallest, youngest boys on the island. Lee-Grey is just six years old. As his father writes on IMDb, he “enjoys singing, dancing and acting as distinct disciplines and adores musical theatre.”
Beau Thompson as Philip
Beau Thompson plays Philip, another of the younger boys on the island. Although this is his first role, he is already set to appear in three more high-profile projects: The Death of Robin Hood (with Noah Jupe, Hugh Jackman and Bill Skasgärd), Blood on Snow (with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Eva Green and Benedict Cumberbatch) and Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint (alongside Adjoa Andoh, Celia Imrie and Richard E. Grant).
