From hats to hot water bottles (yep, really) there is a fashion accessory that will work for you and your wardrobe in our top ten of London Fashion Week accessory trends, straight from the catwalk. Here’s the countdown…

1) 16 Arlington's structured handbags

Reflecting the label’s 1990s / early Naughties influences, 16 Arlington focused on grab handle bags typical of the period which you could carry with ladylike finesse, if you wish. They’re ideal for day to night dressing when you're heading from the office to cocktails.

2) Asai’s crystal cuffs

With droplets of crystals twining up the models arms, it was clear that bling was back on the catwalk. Chandelier style gems looked opulent and caught the light  on the Asai catwalk.

3) Bora Aksu’s bonnet

We spotted a few different hat styles this fashion week and even at Bora Aksu there were cloches, pillboxes and cat ears. But following on from the resurgence of balaclavas and knitted hoods this season, it’s good to know that cosy headgear - namely Bora Aksu’s bonnets - will return for autumn 2023. Your ears will be thankful.

4) Paul & Joe’s glasses

It’s noticeable from their absence at other shows that Paul & Joe made excellent strides for representation by having several models walk the catwalk wearing glasses.. Spotting a model in opticals, other than an occasional pair of shades, is rare at fashion week and as a brand that creates their own eyewear, it does make business sense to show them off at a fashion show… It was still a happy reminder that style and glasses-wearing are not mutually exclusive.

5) Burberry’s hot water bottle

The front row guests at Burberry all found hot water bottles gracing their seats (the shows are in February, remember, it’s chilly) and even the models clutched them as they walked the catwalk. Matching your hot-bott to your outfit might become a street style lewk come autumn…

6) David Koma’s flower corsage

Not since SATC and Carrie’s overblown flower corsage have florals looked so… groundbreaking. Giant petals bloomed on lapels and were worn as collars at several shows (and on show-goers) but David Koma’s high shine versions were the slickest and sexiest.

7) Dilara Findikoglu’s body jewellery

Kim Kardashian’s belly chain has made headlines for it’s retro vibes and Dilara Findikoglu seemed to be equally fixated by body jewellery in every shape and form. Even the catwalk models’ nails came dripping with chains. If you’re wearing a low slung something, a corset top or strappy dress, fine chains, or pearls wrapped around it with be an ideal update for autumn 2023.

8) Tove’s pearl earrings

As each perfectly polished piece of clothing exited the catwalk, it was clear that the fashion pack had found a new favourite label. But alongside the impeccable tailoring, easy separates and perfectly put together chic clothing, the earrings - specifically these in the silhouette of a flower and lined with pearls - were a wishlist worthy piece.

9) Richard Quinn’s latex gloves

The Princess of Wales wore long black gloves to the BAFTAs last month, with a white one-shoulder gown. The effect was devastating. HRH's choice of gloves was certainly down to Quinn’s inclusion of long gloves in his catwalk shows. Although these catwalk versions were latex, long satin gloves were once a staple of black tie soirees, although fell out of favour for being too old-fashioned. Quinn’s borderline BDSM versions shake up the old school vibes and look edgy yet timeless. They're a definite do for after dark dressing.

10) Simone Rocha’s embroidered socks

For snuggling up in or making a statement, Simone Rocha’s exquisitely embroidered socks are ideal when the colder autumn weather hits (assuming we actually get some summer in between now and September, of course…) Wearing a quirky pair of socks with your everyday outfits is a fun way to update your look, without spending a fortune on new garms. The joy that can be gained from glancing down and spotting a pair of sweet socks is unrivalled.
