Take a lip liner in any shade – we’d recommend pinks, reds, oranges or browns, but be bold and have fun – then draw random shapes and squiggles in the places you want to add some colour and definition. It could be your cheeks, forehead, nose, eyes, lips – whatever takes your fancy. Blend it all out and voilà! A summer makeup look created with just a single product.

One of my (very few) flaws is that I cannot, for the life of me, pack light. Even for a short weekend away, I’m that person toting a giant suitcase bursting with clothes, skincare, makeup, body care etc. When I heard about this hack, I was immediately intrigued to find a solution to my lifelong problem. I'm a lip liner addict so this trend felt made for me. The biggest trick to making this hack work is finding a super soft and blendable lip liner formula, plus a colour that works with your complexion as a whole. I’m so lazy with my makeup on holiday, so I think this hack could work quite well for me. In fact, it has to because I’ve only packed a pink lip liner for my upcoming holiday. I really like it when people do a coloured eyeliner on their lower lid and it’s super easy to apply with a pencil. I love a pink blush too and it blends really easily to give a rosy hue. It’s quite pigmented which would work for a holiday, so overall I think the hack works.

As someone who loves a quick and easy makeup routine (the fewer steps and products the better!) I was really intrigued by the idea of a simple lip liner doing it all. I’m a rule follower and notoriously bad with makeup so the idea of using a product outside of its intended purpose is quite scary for someone like me. I also hate my skin feeling dry and blending the lip liner out with my fingers just did not sit right with me. Basically, I am too highly strung for this trend and although the results worked fine for a cute cheek flush, I won't be incorporating this to my bag of tricks.
