Last night we saw yet another massive high for women's sport as the England Women's football team scooped the prestigious BT Sport Action Woman of the Year Award.

Renowned as one the UK's greatest achievement in female sport, England's Lionesses pipped the European Championship-winning Hockey Team and World Downhill Biking Champion Rachel Atherton to the post.

The award follows the team's incredible performance at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada this summer where they finished third place and captured the attention of a nation.

Lionesses' captain and GLAMOUR Sport's Personality Of The Year nominee, Steph Houghton, said: "We are all so happy to receive the BT Sport Action Woman Award, not just for us as a team, but for women's football as whole. I feel as though there are so many more young girls that want to go and play football because of our success in the World Cup."

Other nominees for the BT award included Nicola Adams (who's also GLAMOUR's Sports Star of The Week), Lizzie Armitstead, Georgina Hermitage, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Johanna Konta, Sarah Outen and the Oxford Women's Boat Race crew.

The awards, which aims to recognise the 10 biggest achievements in British female sport, is now in its third year and were presented live on BT Sport 1 last night by GLAMOUR contributor and sports presenter, Clare Balding.

Congratulations and high fives all round ladies!
