The 1D singer posed with a pair of seashells not dissimilar to Lady Gaga's recent mermaid-inspired look in a shout out to Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills - and she was swift to reply, enthusing about his new look.
Lady Gaga wore the bikini for her Applause video in a nod to Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, and also donned a seashell bra for her VMAs performance where she hung out with the One Direction boys backstage.
