Ok, we might have jumped the gun a little when we said that ‘this is not a drill’, but the internet is convinced that Leigh-Anne Pinnock is about to kick off a solo music career, and we're pretty giddy about it. Back in December 2021, Little Mix announced that they were taking a break after 10 years as a band and said at the time that they would be “pursuing solo projects”.
So is Leigh-Anne's finally here?
The 30-year-old pop star joined Twitter last night as a solo account under her own name, @leighannemusic, having previously only posted tweets from the band's official account.
Her first tweet referenced checking whether a microphone was on and immediately caught the attention of Little Mixers on the social media platform: “Is this thing on?,” she wrote.

The tweet sparked the singer to trend nationwide on the app and has received almost 7,000 comments from excitable fans who are prepping themselves for a possible upcoming single drop.
"LEIGH-ANNE PINNOCK IS OFFICIALLY ON TWITTER. LEIGH-ANNE IS COMING," one excited fan Tweeted.
It's the sweetest thing ever, tbh.

While another pop fan shared: "LEIGH ANNE PINNOCK IS COMING!!!!!!!!"
One fan asked: “When are you coming back?", to which Leigh-Anne herself replied: “My god I miss you all so much! I'm getting my butt there as soon as I can! Don't you worry.”

Another asked the star whether she was about to release new music and she said: “I'm 100 per cent not rushing anything! It has to be perfect, very excited though.”

That's a definite yes though, right?!
Now the news won't come as so much of a surprise to those that have been keeping up LA's career thus far, as in February, Warner Records UK announced they'd cut a deal with the singer, tweeting, “Delighted to welcome Leigh-Anne Pinnock to the Warner Records family!” which – quite understandably – sent fans into a frenzy.

The news was announced exactly two months after Little Mix announced their hiatus back in December 2021. And it's pretty serious stuff, considering that Warner Records UK also represent Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars and Saweetie – to name a few.
And Leigh-Anne has actually already recorded two solo songs that were featured in her first film Boxing Day, where she played the role of a pop star in the Christmas film. Speaking to Tyla about the experience last December, the mum-of-two said: “It was really strange being on that stage in jazz café scene. I haven't sung on my own for like 10 years. So, that was like petrifying."
No secrets here.

Though she added: "But I think it's also nice because I think people finally get to really hear me sing. And I don't think a lot of people have really heard me sing like that. Especially when you're in a group.”
Listen, we've never been in a band - unless singing into a hairbrush infant of the mirror with your friends counts? - but we can imagine just how scary it is to branch out on your own after being in exclusively in a group, which is why we are ready and waiting to support the singer with open arms and welcome her back onto our Spotify playlists as a solo singer.
We will be keeping our eyes peeled - just like the rest of the internet it seems…
