While Lana Del Rey may not have won her first very overdue Grammy Award, she certainly won one of the best glam looks on the red carpet at the Grammys 2024.
No stranger to vintage hairstyles referencing bygone eras, Lana, nominated for an impressive five Grammys last night, stayed true to her aesthetic but added a goth glam twist. Rocking a voluminous blowout and beehive bangs topped with an oversized retro bow, dark lip liner, fluffy cat-eye lashes, and subtle shimmering bronzer, she truly looked like an (especially edgy) Old Hollywood starlet.
The Skims campaign star's glam was created by makeup artist Etienne Ortega, who used the Charlotte Tilbury's The Beautyverse Palette, Feline Flick in Panther, and Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara for her dreamy eyes. Meanwhile Lana's trademark over-lined pout was achieved by lining with Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude, and finished with Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick in Icon Baby. Are you taking notes?
Finally, the A&W singer's flawless complexion was achieved with Hollywood Contour Wand in Fair/Medium, Airbrush Flawless Finish in 2, Airbrush Bronzer in 1, and finished with Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray to keep everything in place.
Lana's brunette hues were courtesy of OLAPLEX Global Ambassador and celebrity colourist Jacob Schwartz. “Lana has fabulous dream hair and so much of it. She never uses extensions. Her hair just does what you tell it to do,” says Schwartz. “I do her roots pretty frequently, but we don’t always colour the bottom. Instead, the ends will end up looking lighter, almost naturally.”
“I started with her base colour, and then we used a lighter colour on the front and a darker colour on the roots. I keep that on for 30 minutes, but while that’s sitting we’ll use OLAPLEX Nº.2 Bond Perfector as a standalone treatment and kill two birds with one stone," Schwartz continues. "That was rinsed out, and then I shampooed her hair with the OLAPLEX Nº. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and conditioned it with the OLAPLEX 4-IN-1 Moisture Mask. I let that sit for 10 minutes just to add extra moisture. Then, I blow-dried her hair and used the OLAPLEX No. 6 Bond Smoother and OLAPLEX Nº.7 Bonding Oil on her ends.”

Similarly, Lana's all-black ensemble did not disappoint. The Honeymoon singer wore a sheer, floral puff-sleeved 1960s-inspired dress and matching sheer gloves and pumps complete with bows. Over all, it was giving coquette, but make it Wednesday Addams.
On the red carpet, Lana also took some time to pose with her close friend and musical collaborator Taylor Swift on the red carpet and then at the show, which no doubt caused Swifties and Lana stans' hearts and minds to explode.
Dressed like each other's polar opposites— Lana in all black, and Swift in a classic white gown reminiscent of her Reputation era —the pair made the perfect monochrome partnership.
