Kristen Stewart wears the shorts trend for summer 2025 in Cannes - and somehow makes it office-appropriate.

Kristen Stewart has not only long since outgrown her Twilight years as an actress, her fashion style has also lost the shy teen star-vibe of yesteryear. In recent years, she has proven time and again that she has a good sense of when it's worth breaking the rules, serving up one memorable red carpet look after another: Be it in a super-casual denim look at the Telluride Film Festival 2021, her glamorous no-pants outfit at the "Love Lies Bleeding" premiere in 2024 or in one of her elegant Chanel ensembles - Kristen Stewart knows how to add her own touch to every look. That's exactly what she proved once again with this surprising outfit at the Cannes Film Festival, setting one of the trends for summer 2025.

Kristen Stewart: This is how she wears the shorts trend for summer 2025

Is this already against the dress code? The Cannes Film Festival is known for its rather conservative dress code - which was tightened up again at short notice this year: Among other things, nudity is to be avoided citing “for reasons of decency”. You can read what we think of this (not much) in the following commentary..

Kristen Stewart definitely took a risk with her shorts look- but it was worth it: In head-to-toe Chanel, the actress not only looked super-elegant, but also extremely casual. And all thanks to the shorts trend for summer, which we remember from the early 2000s.

Bermuda shorts are back and are the antithesis of the micro shorts that are so popular right now. But the way Kristen Stewart is wearing them has nothing to do with the surfer look: We can even imagine the shorts in a white satin look with the matching blazer as an unconventional registry office outfit away from the red carpet.

Another detail that makes her outfit particularly cool is the surprising way she styles her shirt: instead of buttoning it up to the top, she leaves it open under the chest and, in combination with the open blazer that partially covers the shirt, creates the illusion of a cropped shirt. This impression is reinforced by an extra-short black tie. She picks up on this colour in black high heels, which create an exciting contrast.

What for some is the ultimate fashion sin is a well thought-out detail for her: the fine white socks in the peep-toe heels give the whole look an edgy touch.

Shorts in the office? Kristen Stewart shows how it's done

What is chic enough for the strict Cannes dress code also works in the office. Because Bermuda shorts à la Kristen Stewart are perfect for hot summer days and, thanks to their length, are also absolutely suitable for the office.

This year, Bermuda shorts are not only being worn in baggy skater style but, as with Kristen Stewart's look, are stylishly enhanced by luxurious fabrics such as shiny satin and sophisticated cuts. The longer shorts work either in a full suit look, but also with fitted blouses or loose shirts. Paired with simple kitten heels, a power suit also works in the summery short version.
