Kim Kardashian has been known to mine the fashion archives to serve up modern renditions of legacy looks. Who can forget her homage to Marilyn Monroe at the 2022 Met Gala, or her resurrection of Princess Diana's Attalah Cross necklace.
For the 2025 pre-Oscars party Kim once again revisited the fashion history books to inspire her glam for the evening. Throwing it back to Chanel's 1995 runway, Kim worked with her longtime hair stylist, Chris Appleton to bring Claudia Schiffer's thigh-length bow-dazzled ponytail back to life.
In a video posted to Chris' Instagram, the hair stylist wrote: “Bows & Blush 🎀 Tonight’s sleek contour ponytail, with a Chanel 95 bow-inspired look." He continued by dropping the details of Kim's deeper, glossier brunette. “Color refresh with @schwarzkopfusa 3.0 for depth and shine,” Chris said.

Just in case you're wondering what the Super make of her look being referenced, Claudia took to her own Instagram to share her enthusiasm. “Loving #KimKardashian’s hair! @chrisappleton1 brought the @chanelofficial 1995 look back to life at last night’s pre-Oscars Chanel event ❤️,” Claudia wrote alongside a photo of the OG catwalk look.

One of our favourite things about the hairstyle is, not only that it's adorable enough for us to willingly recreate it ourselves, but also it's as doable as it is wearable. Essentially the style takes a snatched centre-parted high ponytail, with jumbo black bows added at over the hair tie, then at the shoulder and waist of the XXL style, and the ends left loose to the thigh. It's a style that can be recreated with extensions or tweaked with shorter intervals between the bows on midi or longer-length hair.

As for the outfit, a black corseted bodice dress over a sheer black organza skirt, once again, Kim Kardashian looked to the 1995 Chanel runway for inspiration. In a series of pictures posted to her Instagram grid, Kim shared the runway shots that inspired her look.
It's cute, coquette and very bow-dacious.
