If anything could make us stop gazing at the Joan Didion for Céline campaign it's Saint Laurent's new adverts, starring the mighty Joni Mitchell.

And who better to showcase the brand's Seventies-inspired spring/summer 2015 collection that Mitchell, one of the pioneers of folk music and the original bastion of bohemian hippy cool?

The singer, 71, features in Saint Laurent's Music Project campaign, shot by the brand's creative director Hedi Slimane, who has photographed Mitchell on several occasions prior. In the pictures, she gloriously looks as she did in the 70s, wearing a YSL folk tunic, a leather cape Slimane made for her (naturally) and a YSL fedora, playing the guitar and staring pensively into the distance as she thinks about how to bring about peace and a more just world (probably).

While the fashion world might be embracing a 70s resurgence, Mitchell was its original poster girl with a wardrobe (although she's probably too bohemian to have one; her clothes are probably casually strewn across the room in a laidback, 'I care not about what I wear' fashion) full of floaty floor-length dresses, embroidered tunic tops and well-loved flared jeans.

The music project has been fronted by an eclectic array of talents in the past, including Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, Daft Punk and Marianne Faithful.
