In what has to be described as the cutest fashion show ever (save the dog-filled front row at Mulberry), Jessica Alba attended the Ralph Lauren Girl Fall fashion presentation with her little girls Honor and Haven yesterday afternoon.
Settled firmly on the front row (hay bales, for the farmyard-themed presentation) with her stylish offspring (both dressed in matching Ralph Lauren outfits), our favourite off-duty dresser had her youngest on her knee as she watched the runway show - which featured miniature versions of preppy pieces from Ralph Lauren's women's Collection and Blue Label lines, from peasant dresses and cable knit sweaters to little velvet blazers.
"I'm a fan of Ralph and I thought it would be fun to do something like this," Alba, who introduced the show with a short speech, told WWD. She added that she was archiving her enviable collection of clothing for her daughters, too, joking: "Whatever I have at the moment, they're just going to have to like".
So why the move to a child-friendly catwalk show for Ralph Lauren? With the children's clothes market worth a whopping £6bn, more and more designers are choosing to celebrate their youngest customers (and reel in their parents) with catwalk shows - there was even a Global Kids Fashion Week in May this year.
"My father has always wanted to dress children the way he would dress adults", agreed David Lauren, executive vice president of global advertising, marketing and communications at Ralph Lauren Corp.
