You didn't think Jennifer Lopez Affleck and Ben Affleck would be satisfied with just a Las Vegas elopement, did you? Of course not!
On August 20, the newly married couple took a page out of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's playbook by planning a second, more lavish ceremony and reception to celebrate their love. However, instead of taking off to Italy, the pair hosted their friends and family in their own backyard — the sweeping backyard of Affleck's 87-acre Georgia estate, to be exact.
And the party wasn't just a one day thing. A source told People that Mr. and Mrs. Affleck — yes, J.Lo legally changed her name — had an entire “extraordinary weekend” planned. Here's everything we know.
It was pretty much the opposite of their intimate Las Vegas nuptials. "They will have a pre-wedding party, a ceremony and have lots of fun lined up," a source told People just before the wedding. "[Lopez's] mom and sister are already there," they continued. "The kids with be part of the celebrations too. It will be a beautiful weekend."
A medical incident occurred on the premises before the big day. On August 19, an ambulance was seen leaving Affleck's property ahead of the evening's scheduled rehearsal dinner. While the Liberty County Sheriff's Office confirmed to People that an ambulance transported a patient to a Savannah-area hospital, no other details have been officially released. The Daily Mail shared photos of the couple waiting outside of the hospital and a source told the publication that the incident was 'not serious.'
What's in a surname? As it turns out…a lot.
Later, Affleck's mother, Christopher Anne Boldt, was photographed leaving the hospital in a wheelchair with her son and daughter-in-law in tow.
The event took place at Affleck's Georgia estate. On August 19, TMZ shared photos of the extravagant setup at the Batman actor's property in Riceboro, Georgia, where construction workers were setting up “a huge marquee” as well as a very long, white aisle.
On the big day, the marquee was filled with white chairs and decorated with all-white flowers and white trolley buses to transport guests around the grounds (see photos here). At the end of the evening, The Daily Mail reports that there was a fireworks display by a lake on the premises.
Ahead of the festivities, Lopez Affleck was photographed in downtown Savannah with her blended family enjoying a bit of wedding prep. According to People, Lopez visited Glow Med Spa while Affleck and the kids got coffee at Gallery Espresso. "They are clearly in love. They all seemed like such a happy and cohesive family unit," the spa's owner, Courtney Victor said. "She is absolutely flawless. It's unbelievable how beautiful she is. She is the epitome of a glowing bride."
The pair starred in the film together when they were first engaged.
Jennifer Lopez Affleck wore Ralph Lauren. According to The Daily Mail, Lopez chose a white textured Ralph Lauren couture gown with a dramatic train and a delicate, billowing veil for her third Bennifer wedding dress. To compliment his wife, Affleck wore a black and white tuxedo.
Their children were included in the ceremony in a beautiful way. In the photos shared by The Daily Mail, Lopez and Affleck's kids and other family members can be seen following the couple down the aisle as two of them help carry the bride's veil.
Affleck shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: 16-year-old Violet, 13-year-old Seraphina, and 11-year-old Sam. Meanwhile, Lopez shares 14-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Here's who attended — and who didn't. Many of the couple's famous friends were reported to be attending the second wedding, including Matt Damon, who was photographed arriving in Georgia on August 19 with his wife, Luciana Barroso. According to People, director Kevin Smith, Clerks actor Jason Mewes, and top Hollywood talent agent Patrick Whitesell and his wife, Pia Miller, were among the attendees. Like the bride and groom, the rest of the wedding guests were dressed in white.
Missing from the festivities was Ben Affleck's brother, Casey Affleck, who reportedly had conflicting "parental obligations at home." Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer was also absent from the event. On August 21, TMZ shared photos of the actor at a Sam's Club in West Virginia that were reportedly captured around the same time as the wedding ceremony on August 20. In one photo, Garner can be seen smiling as she poses with a fan. It was previously reported that Garner was invited to the wedding but declined due to scheduling conflicts, though that has not been confirmed.
