It's no secret that Jennifer Lawrence loves her Vans. Just a couple of days ago, she was seen strolling around New York in a yellow pair by the casual footwear brand. At the time, we predicted a new spring trend – and the actor didn't waste any time before returning to a model of Vans that we all have lurking somewhere in the backs of our closets. Yes, we're talking about the black ones — but, ever one to break sartorial convention, she hasn't worn them in the most predictable way.
Clogs? For spring?
Which trousers should you wear with Vans?! It's probably a question we all contemplated when the Vans Old Skool model came out. The answer that first comes to mind is jeans, right? The obvious choice — but not if you're Jennifer Lawrence, apparently. The 33-year-old actor has given her Vans a twist by pairing them with a suit jacket, officially granting Vans smart shoe status.
Mind you, Lawrence's styling choice is a tricky one to get right. We're not looking at your average suit — at least not in terms of proportion. Lawrence has gone for a decidedly oversized look. In other words, Lawrence's otherwise classic two-piece suit is modernised by both its size and her choice of trainers.
Could you wear this look to the office? Absolutely, yes (unless your workplace is strictly a no-trainer zone). But honestly, with such wide trousers, your co-workers would have to look closely to even notice you're not wearing loafers or ballet flats. It's safe to say Jennifer Lawrence has found the most comfortable way to go to work without falling into a boring pattern or making things too complicated. Thanks for the inspo, Jen.
