HoYeon Jung has just won her first major award season prize as the SAG Awards’ 2022 Best Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in Netflix’s biggest phenomenon Squid Game, while stunning the SAG Awards 2022 silver carpet sporting a Louis Vuitton custom fit for her first major award season appearance. As she so elegantly struts to collect her award on stage, Twitter is up in arms about how she just showed up and showed out all the gwurlz with this showstopping ensemble.
This South Korean gal has recently become the internet’s favourite girl crush and fashion connoisseur, as her starring role on Squid Game catapulted her into global superstardom. After all, it’s with good reason we were all scrambling to find a Squid Game player costume with a No. 067 embossed and a messy bob Halloween costume.
After her stunning performance in Netflix’s record-breaking, history-making, dystopian-thriller original series Squid Game, we have spotted her here, there and everywhere, never missing an opportunity to drop her best street style fits and beauty looks, as well as sharing iconic snaps to her 23 million Instagram followers.
HoYeon Jung plays the role of Kang Sae-byeok – or 067 – in Squid Game, a young North Korean defector (and skilled pickpocket) who joins the games with the hopes of reuniting with her mother in North Korea. This earning her two of the four impressive Squid Game cast SAG Awards 2022 nominations (for both outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series and also outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series with her fellow cast).
As expected, Jung’s fashion choices did not disappoint. After building a relationship with the fashion house over the last few months, the actress is seen sporting the Louis Vuitton fit that featured a set of romantic shoulder straps, a delicate black silk jacquard base, and glittering crystal embroideries — a mix of simplicity and decorative detail complementing her chic and elegant makeup.
The beauty look is enhanced by that glowy cloud skin finish and of course the detailing in Jung’s glass-like ponytail, matching the fabric / embellishments of the dress itself. The sweet story behind the hair accessory is that it was in fact inspired by the traditional Korean daenggi hair ribbon — an accessory that has been used to decorate braided hair for centuries, honoring Jung’s rich cultural background.
Once again, HoYeon Jung understood the assignment, and this is why she will continue to have the internet’s fashion police by the neck.
