It's official: Britain is a nation of grumps. According to a new study by the Office of National Statistics, we're better off than ever, but our grumpiness has risen as a result.
Our incomes are going up, but we feel less happy with our pay. We're living longer in better health, but we complain more.
Glenn Everett, the ONS director of well-being, said: "In many parts of our society life in the UK is improving but we don't necessarily feel that they are.
"While healthy life expectancy, household income, and crime rates are improving, we have seen people reporting that they are less satisfied with some aspects of their life such as our health, income and leisure time."
On paper, things are improving, but it seems we are not feeling that way. We asked GLAMOUR's official Queen grump why grumpiness isn't a bad thing, and then, to cheer us all up, shared the things that never fail to cheer us up. Here's to being grumpy! Or not.
I'll be honest: I give good grump. Lots of things make me grumpy - mornings and people, mostly. When I get out of bed, there is never a good side. I suspect my blood group is Grump Positive. And you know what? I'm fine with that.
Grumpiness is much maligned, but for me, it's a trait that goes hand in hand with not tolerating BS - be it from rude people, late trains or my own alarm clock (a thoroughly evil piece of kit). Some things in life are just rubbish - why shouldn't we rail against them honestly and openly?
In an age where we are all busy presenting our best, shiniest, happiest selves on social media, and when "bubbly" is still considered a compliment for women (vom), I'd rather let my grump flag fly than feel pressured into assuming Stepford Wife-esque levels of sunniness all the time.
And let's not forget: grumpiness is also pretty funny. I like to think I grump with good humour (mostly), and I have a list of gloriously tetchy comedy heroes, from Grumpy Cat to Kelsey Grammer as Frasier (in an indignant grump, he is MAGNIFICENT).
So, my message to my fellow little rays of sunshine: be grumpy and proud. (After all, the grumpier you get, the more you'll enjoy de-grumping by watching this video of a monkey)
Here are seven other things that make the GLAMOUR team cheer up automatically.
This is Features Director Claire Matthiae's new go-to. It's fabulous. Love the element of dad dancing in there, too.
You have Fashion Features Editor Ella Alexander to thank for this. This made most of the office explode laughing.
This brilliant compilation of dance scenes from films would be cheering enough, but it's the Wayne G song over the top that lifts it. Top choice from Associate Editor James Williams: "This is my absolute go-to when I'm feeling down. Guaranteed to always make me smile."
Kat Brown, Social Media Editor, has been giggling over this all week. It's just so cheering!
Ciara Sheppard, Features Assistant Intern, is a sucker for animals being tickled. Quite rightly. This is a classic for a reason.
Project Manager Silvia Nicoletti and Junior Designer Hannah Crawford are both obsessed with this paean to Zayn Malik.
