A campaign for Maltesers showing "the lighter side" of disability has gone down a storm with TV viewers after airing during the Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

The chocolate's parent company, Mars, won £1 million of free advertising from Channel 4 as part of a competition to make ads championing diversity and disability during the Paralympics, and they've succeeded in spades.

They have made three ads featuring four disabled actors, each telling a story of something magnificently awkward happening and the first, about a girl having a spasm during a romantic encounter with her new boyfriend, entranced viewers.

New Boyfriend is - well, we won't spoil it for you, but it is BRILLIANT.

It's delightfully risqué for a chocolate advert that doesn't feature a lady fellating a chocolate bar in the bath, and pretty much every share on Facebook has been accompanied with "best ad ever".

This story is told through sign language. Bad dog. Bad.

And this one is a wedding disaster story - with a happy ending. Just not for the bride's foot.

This behind-the-scenes video interviewing the actors is genuinely worth watching - it's really lovely and, most importantly, short.

All the Maltesers ads will be shown on Channel 4 over the forthcoming fortnight - what a great start to the Paralympics. Next up: read our interview with Team GB's "hurricane", Paralympian athlete Hannah Cockroft.
