Grab your sequins and your feather boas, because it's almost that time of year again — Eurovision 2025 is approaching. Fast.
The Eurovision Song Contest is arguably one of the most fun parts of the summer. The European talent show sees musical artists and groups from European countries battling it out by performing by way of some of the whackiest, campest songs ever heard. It's a hoot.
This year, the contest is set to take place in Basel in May — here's everything you need to know before the extravaganza kicks off.
When is Eurovision 2025?
First of all, when is it? Mark your calendars, because from Tuesday, May 13 until Saturday May 17, you'll be busy watching Eurovision. The semi-finals are on May 13 and May 15, while the final will take place this weekend on Saturday May 17.
The first semi-final saw ten countries progressing to the final:
- Norway: Kyle Alessandro – Lighter
- Albania: Shkodra Elektronike – Zjerm
- Sweden: KAJ – Bara Bada Bastu
- Iceland: VÆB – RÓA
- Netherlands: Claude – C’est La Vie
- Poland: Justyna Steczkowska – GAJA
- San Marino: Gabry Ponte – Tutta L’Italia
- Estonia: Tommy Cash – Espresso Macchiato
- Portugal: NAPA – Deslocado
- Ukraine: Ziferblat – Bird of Pray
The second semi-final is set to take place this Thursday on May 15.
As a reminder, the UK is one of the Big Five and it progresses to the May 17th final automatically.

Where is Eurovision 2025 going to be?
Eurovision 2025 is being hosted in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland — the country is the birthplace of Eurovision, so it's bound to be a good one.
The hosts for the finale will be Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker and Sandra Studer.
What is the theme for Eurovision 2025?
This year's theme is “Unity Shapes Love.”
Eurovision participants
Artists and groups from all over Europe will return to Eurovision this year.
The United Kingdom's entrants are a girl country-pop group called Remember Monday, who will perform their song “What the Hell Just Happened.”
The group appeared in The Voice UK in 2019 and went on to release their debut EP in 2023.
They will be the first girl band to represent the UK in Eurovision since 1999.
Who is the favourite to win Eurovision 2025?
Sadly, the United Kingdom is rarely a favourite in the Eurovision contest — in fact, it's kind of a running joke that we tend to do pretty poorly. Last year, we came 18th, and a year earlier, we came 25th. In 2022, things were a little different when Sam Ryder unexpectedly placed second. However, this year, the UK isn't exactly predicted to do well.
According to the bookies, Sweden is currently considered most likely to win, with Austria and France on its heels.
This year, Sweden's entrant is KAJ with the song "Bara bada bastu," which, translated into English, is “Just sauna.” (Yes, their song is an ode to the sauna — and everyone is about to be obsessed.)
Meanwhile, Austria is being represented by JJ with the song “Wasted Love,” while France will be represented by Louane with the song “maman.”
Where can I watch Eurovision 2025?
As usual, Eurovision will be streaming on the BBC. The Semi Finals on May 13 and May 15, along with the Finale on May 17 will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. It’s will also be possible to listen in live on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
