With access to some of the best hair and makeup artists in the world, it’s unsurprising that celebrity weddings are unashamedly glamorous. And, with their carefully selected beauty squad out in full force, you can pretty much guarantee other-worldly glowing skin, perfectly glossy hair and meticulously applied makeup. Ample hunting ground, then, for inspiration when it comes to planning your own big day.

While not all of us will have a little black book of the world’s leading beauty experts or a mega budget to drop on beauty prep, there are tips we can pick up from the pros – some of whom have even released the exact products they used to create the looks.

Pixie Lott

“The overall look was feminine and sultry with soft washes of colour – it was timeless rather than directional,” says Caroline Barnes, the makeup artist behind Pixie's two wedding looks.

For the ceremony itself, Barnes focused on softly iridescent, petal-inspired shades.  She layered Givenchy Ombre Interdite Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Quartz with powder eyeshadows from the No.1 Le 9 Givenchy Eye Palette for dimension, tight lining with white eyeliner to really open up the eye. Sticking to the same rose colour way, Pixie's lips were a nude pink with a touch of sheer balm dabbed onto the centre for added hydration and to give the illusion of plumpness.

Complexion-wise, rather than lean on powder to take down shine, Barnes used two different Givenchy foundations, “the Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Glow on the outer perimeter of her face and the Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Matte in a slightly lighter shade on the centre panel of the T-Zone,” says Barnes. She then applied Hourglass Vanish Blush Stick in Sacred to the top middle part of Pixie's cheeks, taking care to blend it into the Sculpted By Aimee Connolly Liquid Lights Guilded Glow Highlight to avoid any harsh lines.

Come evening, Barnes smoked out the eye using the same Givenchy palette for added definition. “Makeup shows up very vividly against white so rather than go in with eyeliner, which can look harsh, I used taupe shades of eyeshadow and pulled the colour out from under her eyes,” says Barnes, adding that in photographs, kohl or liquid eyeliner can make eyes look smaller.

Pixie's long-time hairstylist Larry King tied her softly curly hair into a loose knot at the nape of her neck by day. Then for the evening celebrations, Pixie's hair was worked into a half-up half-down hairstyle with a few loose tendrils to frame the face.

Britney Spears

When Britney tied the knot with Sam Asghari she wore no fewer than four custom Versace gowns and turned to A-list favourite, Charlotte Tilbury, to create her beauty look. Every inch the California bride, Britney channelled luminous, bronzed skin with a smouldering smoky eye – in other words, nothing too far removed from her normal look. “We created a glowy, dreamy,  flattering day-to-night look that worked with her dress changes – starting with beautifully radiant skin, adding a soft smokey eye, peachy, glowing cheeks and of course, the perfect nude-pink bridal lip,” says Tilbury.

After prepping Britney's skin with Charlotte's Magic Cream and the Beautiful Skin Foundation, Sofia Tilbury, who pulled the look together on the day, used the Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer and light sweeps of Peachgasm Beauty Light Wand for a soft contour and lit-from-within effect. The antique gold shade of Eyes to Mesmerise in Oyster Pearl was blended and diffused on the eyes, while the iconic Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk created a pout that added the right amount of definition in photographs.

Poppy Delevigne

Married in 2014, Poppy’s beauty look stands the test of time. She worked with Charlotte Tilbury to create a warm, summer look complete with bronzy skin, defined eyes, fluttery mascara, peachy cheeks and a pretty pink lip. The best part? Charlotte listed the makeup she used, from the Overnight Bronze & Glow Gradual Tanner enlisted to prep skin night before, to the Instant Look In A Palette (in Beauty Glow) that took care of eyes and cheeks, as well as the exact lip shade (not Electric Poppy – the shade inspired by Delevigne, as it happens), but Pillow Talk a subtle nude pink.

Hair-wise, Poppy’s been vocal about her favourite colourist, Josh Wood, who’s regularly tasked with keeping her creamy blonde colour toned to perfection. For some similar DIY action, he’s created a range of shade shots you can introduce into your hair routine at home to knock out any brassiness in blondes or enhance the deeper depths in brunettes.

Sophie Turner

Sophie entrusted her wedding day look to her long-term glam team, makeup artist Georgie Eisdell (who also works with Carey Mulligan and Nina Dobrev) and hair stylist Christian Wood (whose other clients include Millie Bobby Brown and Amanda Seyfried).

While all parties involved have remained tight-lipped over the specifics, the picture released by Sophie shows she opted for her long hair worn sleek and slightly curled with a neat middle parting, while her makeup was kept simple with a smoky eye taking centre stage and the rest of her features kept mostly bare.

Meghan Markle

Meghan bought a touch of Hollywood sparkle to her wedding by calling on friend and celeb makeup artist Daniel Martin (Dior’s makeup ambassador) to take care of her makeup. But, rather than going full red carpet, she opted for a pared back look that let her freckles shine through (reportedly achieved by blending a light wash of Dior’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation across her skin), framing her eyes with structured brows and lots of fluttery lashes.

For hair, Meghan skipped tradition and instead opted for a messy bun with tendrils kept loose at the front, thanks to some sculpting from Serge Normant (hair stylist to Julia Roberts and Emma Stone), who just so happens to have a hair line of his own, complete with body-building volumising shampoos for extra oomf.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka chose to work with New York based makeup artist Yumi Mori for her wedding in Rajasthan and since Pri’s never been shy of a bold lip, the pair landed on a fuchsia lip colour, Boy Gorgeous, by Marc Jacobs. The rest of the brief? Ultra sheeny skin with a little help from Marc Jacobs O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer and even a shimmery orange eyeliner, Orange Crush, along her waterline (which was surprisingly more subtle than it sounds).

Kate Moss

Kate went for a relaxed, vintage look with loose laid back waves created by top hair dresser, Sam McKnight (the man responsible for Princess Diana’s hair as well as the looks backstage at the Chanel fashion show). How to replicate that nonchalant, slightly mussed-up texture? McKnight’s made it available to all, thanks to his Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist which promises an ever-so-slightly undone texture, that removes any worries of perfectly immaculate poodle curls and gives sexy tousled vibes instead.

For makeup, Charlotte Tilbury again lent her skills to create a easy-going look with Kate’s trademark rock ‘n’ roll edge. Tilbury’s own Sophisticate Eyeshadow Palette was blended across eyelids before the Audrey Eye Pencil was smudged across her lash line, the Cheek To Chic in Sex On Fire was used to give Kate’s cheeks a flush of colour and her lip shade was a bespoke combination of Penelope Pink around the outer edges, with a touch of Nude Kate (named after Moss) dabbed just in the centre.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth called on her longtime makeup artist, Gucci Westman to take care of her bridal makeup. According to Gucci, the brief from Gwyneth was “to look like herself, but a bit enhanced.” Paltrow’s own brand, Goop, was used to prep her skin, then makeup from Westman’s newly launched Westman Atelier was used to create the rest of the look. The Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter was blended on cheeks and eyelids to create an under the skin glow, the Beauty Butter Bronzer was stippled across her forehead and the bridge of her nose to add warmth and the Baby Cheeks Blush Stick was dotted on cheeks (in the shade Dou Dou) and lips (in the shades Petal and Poppet) to add a pretty wash of colour.

Celeb hair stylist Orlando Pita was in charge of hair (both Paltrow’s and pal Cameron Diaz, who attended). He shared the steps taken to give Gwyneth the relaxed, slight wave she wanted, blow drying her hair into a middle parting, then loosely curling her hair in four large sections on each side, then teasing her her slightly at the crown to create a foundation that could hold her veil in place.
