Burberry has partnered with Vestiaire Collective, making it easier to trade in (and shop) pre-loved pieces

Over the years, Burberry has cemented its place as one of Britain's most iconic, respected brands. Who amongst us hasn't swooned over the classic tartan wool scarves and sleek khaki trenches that have made the brand a staple in any wardrobe?

Dating all the way back to 1856, Burberry feels practically timeless. The likes of Kate Moss, Cara Delevigne, Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely and Emma Mackey have all taken turns as the face of the brand. Today, it remains a symbol of British chicness. But, of course, it doesn't exactly come cheap.

Now, Burberry has announced a new partnership with pre-loved clothing app Vestiaire to make owning your own Burberry trench a little more affordable — and a little more eco-friendly.

About the partnership

Whether you have an old Burberry item you no longer use, or, you're in the market for a vintage trench, this partnership could be just what you've been looking for. Here's how it works.

Starting today, UK shoppers can trade in pre-loved coats and bags from Burberry through the Burberry x Vestiaire Collective platform. In return, they'll receive a Burberry gift card. In turn, Vestiaire will sell on the item to another customer.

And don't worry — there are plenty of gorgeous pre-loved coats to choose from on Vestiaire. Burberry has donated a range of women’s Heritage Trench Coats to the platform.

Why shop second-hand?

In 2022, Burberry announced its plans to become climate positive by 2024. This marks another step towards a more climate-conscious future for the brand.

Giorgio Belloli, Burberry’s Chief Digital, Customer and Innovation Officer, said in a press release, “In building on our existing circular initiatives, including our aftercare services through our ReBurberry programme, we hope that these pieces can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Added Fanny Moizant, Co-Founder and President of Vestiaire Collective, “This new partnership with Burberry celebrates longevity and represents a step forward towards circularity. It is Vestiaire Collective’s mission to support brands to promote resale and offer more responsible alternatives to their community to buy less but buy better.”
