It looks as though both Charli XCX and Jade Thirlwall were similarly inspired when it came to reference for their Brit Awards looks.
It's been a storming year for the two British artists, both of whom are nominated for awards this year. Charli gave us Brat summer (and racked up five Brit nominations in the process). Meanwhile Jade's debut as a solo artist has brought her nods in the song of the year and pop act categories after Angel of my Dreams broke TikTok. Plus she'll be performing (so we expect there'll be an outfit change).
But, for their first appearance of the evening on the red carpet, both Charli and Jade seemed to be channelling a very similar vibe. Jade arrived first dressed in a lightwash denim blue floral gown complete with a matching bouquet, which looked like it had been lifted straight from Emily in the Corpse Bride.

Jade also arrived with the monster manager featured in her Angel of my Dreams music video. Given how she's spoken of her toxic relationship with both past managers and the music industry, we wonder whether the look is a nod to the complicated way in which she's married to her music. Her latest single It Girl, talks about contracts and clauses and we know how meta Jade can get with her art.
In any case, we loved how she served up something unexpected and brought a little extra intrigue to the Brits red carpet.
Meanwhile, Charli XCX took the corpse bride theme in a different direction, arriving to the red carpet in a sheer, all-black ensemble complete with a black elbow-length veil. She kept it bratty (we'd expect nothing less) with smudgy black liner, a dark metallic-looking lip and her black lacy thong exposed so you don't even have to guess the colour of her underwear (iykyk).
We love a memorable red carpet moment and we're keeping our fingers crossed for an even more memorable night for two of our favourite artists.
