Bodies is the new Netflix sci-fi crime series starring Shira Haas of Unorthodox fame

Gritty new drama.
Bodies

Bodies will be the television return of Shira Haas to Netflix following her critically acclaimed acting work in the 2020 miniseries Unorthodox.

And if that mere fact alone isn't enough to convince you to tune into this series when it lands on the streamer, then you may also be delighted to know that the eight-episoder is actually a sci-fi crime series that will span four different time periods while cracking the same case. We're reaching for our detective hats, pronto!

The series is based on the 2015 graphic of the same name by Si Spencer and follows the journey of four different detectives from four different time periods who are forced to come together to get to the bottom of a 150-year-old case after they each discover the same body.

For further information about the plot, the official synopsis from Netflix reads: "Based on the mind-bending graphic novel by Si Spencer, Bodies is a police procedural with a twist. When a body – the same body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London's East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, one detective from each period must investigate.

"As connections are drawn across the decades, the detectives soon discover their investigations are linked, and an enigmatic political leader – Elias Mannix (Stephen Graham) – becomes increasingly central. Did he have a part to play in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play? To solve the mystery, our four detectives must somehow collaborate and uncover a conspiracy spanning over 150 years."

The hotly-anticipated series essentially promises to be part murder mystery, part period drama, and part police procedural, so there's literally something for every crime thriller lover with this one!

Alongside Shira, the gritty new drama, which has been created by Paul Tomalin, stars Stephen Graham, Kyle Soller and Amaka Okafor.

An official teaser released by Netflix features the statement: "Revealing the truth is a matter of time." The accompanying caption adds: "Four detectives, living in four different eras, find the body of the same murder victim in London's Whitechapel. They soon come to realise their investigations have them central to a mysterious conspiracy spanning over 150 years."

Bodies will be available to stream on Netflix from 19 October.
