Beyoncé appears to have shown her support for Lizzo amid the ongoing harassment lawsuit filed by some of her former dancers. During one of her recent Atlanta stops on the Renaissance tour, Beyoncé took the opportunity to shout out the “Juice” singer.
As seen in videos circulating social media, Beyoncé took a minute to dedicate a few words for Lizzo while performing “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” While Lizzo is featured in the original lyrics to the song, its third verse in particular, Beyoncé went the extra mile to mention the singer. “Lizzo! I love you, Lizzo!” the star shouted on stage during the concert, omitting Erykah Badu’s and Kelly Rowland’s names as a result.

News of Beyoncé shouting out Lizzo so prominently mid-lawsuit comes as a surprise for many, as she had just done the opposite on stage barely two weeks ago. During her stop in Massachusetts on August 1, Beyoncé seemingly omitted Lizzo’s name from the song’s lyrics, instead repeating Badu’s name thrice. The timing coincided with the first allegations against Lizzo surfacing online.

Dancers Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis, and Noelle Rodriguez filed the lawsuit against Lizzo, her dance captain Shirlene Quigley, and her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. on August 1, 2023, in Los Angeles Superior Court. In their document, the trio accused Lizzo and her team of sexual, racial, and religious harassment, among other claims.
Lizzo responded to the lawsuit and allegations with a statement on August 3, calling the situation “gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing.” She added: “My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. The sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Beyoncé has sung Lizzo’s name during “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” since the initial omission in Foxborough. As noted by users online, she reinstated the name during her Washington D.C. show on August 7, instead notably skipping Badu, though without a full-on shoutout like Atlanta’s.
