Yup, sadly it's become common place for body shaming searches to trend on TikTok, specifically those about celebrities' weight. And Bebe Rexha has called out the latest instance of it happening to her.

The singer shared a screenshot of some of the suggested searches to Twitter which come up on the social app when you search her name, based on what others have looked for, and most of them feature derogative inclusions of the word “fat”.

The phrases included: “bebe rexha coachella fat” and “bebe rexha getting fat same.” The app also predicted “bebe rexha halftime fat” and “bebe rexha before and after.”

However, Bebe didn't just share the TikTok searches in her Tweet, she included a mirror selfie where she's baring her stomach while dressed in a tracksuit, and captioned it “Yes I'm in my fat era and what?”

And what indeed? Respect to Bebe for reclaiming the word used against her, and reminding body shamers there's a real person behind the searches they are making who can see and feel the effects of the words.

Fans clearly agree, as the most liked comments included “Fat era? More like fab era”, and “You look normal, healthy and beautiful. Screw the haters. They’ll always find something to hate on.”

Unfortunately it's not the first time Bebe has called out searches related to scrutinising her weight. In April she got real about how hurtful this behaviour is: “Seeing that search bar is so upsetting,” Rexha tweeted in April, with a screenshot of a “bebe rexha weight” search trend on TikTok. She continued, “I’m not mad cause it’s true. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to all the people who love me no matter what.”

No doubt it's exhausting having to go through public scrutiny of your body, especially on a platform as prolific as TikTok, so whether the response from a celeb is a clap back of epic proportions, a heartfelt confession of the pain it causes, or nothing at all, this is a reminder to whoever is typing those words that they're still not ok.
