The cast of the Wicked movies has officially kicked off their press tour for the first instalment of the franchise in Australia, and Ariana Grande is commemorating the occasion with another first: posting Ethan Slater on her Instagram feed for the first time.
On November 3, the cast held the first of many premieres as part of the Journey Through Oz press tour in Sydney, Australia. For the occasion, Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the movies, tapped into the darker side of the titular witch, opting for a stunning black dress by Louis Vuitton's Nicolas Ghesquière, which she paired with lace-up boots and an emerald green mani.
Ariana Grande, on the other hand, once again tapped into Glinda's pink, opting for a larger-than-life recreation of The Good Witch's original dress from the 1939 Wizard of Oz film. Grande's dress was handmade by Vivienne Westwood's couturiers in London and flown down under for the premiere.

Since Grande's skirt was so big, it looks like the star needed help walking down the stairs wearing the custom creation, which prompted the adorable moment between Grande and Slater captured in her IG post.
To coincide with the premiere, Grande posted a series of pictures from the night to both her main grid and IG stories. On the 18th slide of her main grid post resides the first picture of Slater she's ever posted, which you can see here. In the pic, you can see Slater, who also stars as Boq in the Wicked movies, holding a portion of Grande's train as she makes her way down the stairs at Sydney's State Theatre.
Grande and Slater first sparked romance rumours in the summer of 2023 after the pair reportedly met on the set of Wicked. Since then, the duo has kept a low profile and though they have been spotted on dates, they've been few and far between.
By March 2024, sources claimed things between Slater and Grande were "getting more serious,” and the two stars are now giving fans a glimpse into their relationship, not only with their first pic together on Instagram but also via interviews.
Back in September, Grande publicly addressed her relationship with Slater for the first time. Grande denounced how the tabloids depicted Slater when rumors started spreading and praised the actor for his personality. “No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about. There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bullsh*t tabloid can rewrite in real life,” she said at the time.
The pair met while filming Wicked.

Exactly a month later, Slater opened up about Grande for the first time in an interview with GQ. “She’s such an amazing performer,” Slater said of Grande, also adding that he's really excited for the world to see her take on Glinda. “I’m just really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done on this,” he said. "She’s poured herself into it. I’m really proud that I got to be there for that part of it, and I’m really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did.”
The Journey Through Oz press tour will continue across four more cities around the world, with stops scheduled in Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, and London before the film's world premiere on November 22, 2024, so here's hoping for more Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande adorable moments!
