The ultimate fly and flop.

The Costa Smeralda coastline in northern Sardinia is where the A-listers go to play. And, nestled in a peaceful enclave at the centre, you'll find 7Pines Sardinia.

Obviously, there's a reason why the second largest island in the mediterranean is such a popular retreat. The sparkling waters, secluded white sand beaches, hidden coves and private ocean clubs make it a perfect jumping off point for jet-setters looking to head off onto one of the many super yachts that flank the shore.

But even without the sailing or celeb-spotting (the island is a favourite with the likes of Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Irina Shayk and Elton John, to name a few), it's an ideal place to kick back, relax and recuperate. The weather is blissful from April to October and the food and wine is next-level; we're talking pasta, pizza, gelato, chianti, negronis.

But, if you're after a holiday where you can fly, flop and stay put in the lap of luxury, 7Pines has all the amenities to ensure you'll never want to leave.

The location

A 40 minute drive from Olbia airport, 7Pines Sardinia is located at the centre of the Costa Smeralda on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia. The property overlooks the sea with access to a quiet beach and is surrounded by a nature reserve and 15 hectares of untarnished coastline in Baja Sardinia. The hotel garden (linking some of the laguna rooms to the rest of the hotel) provides fresh ingredients to the hotel's fine dining restaurant, Capogiro, and if you look out to sea, the view overlooks the archipelago of Maddalena.

The accommodation

The hotel boasts 76 rooms and suites, which offer up a mix of sea views overlooking the beach and glittering waters of the bay below, garden vi5ews surrounded by lush palms, and pool-side views that open onto the tranquil laguna pool. And to make it a home away from home, there's a house bar that's well-stocked with drinks (soft and alcoholic), teas and coffees which you can dip into from your own private terrace.

The spa and amenities

Whether you find you unwind best with a workout, or if a deep tissue massage is more your speed, you'll find both within the resort. It's #blessed with two generously sized pools and the newly opened Pure Seven spa, which boasts a relaxation room, sauna, emotional shower, ice room and five treatments room set around an olive tree in its court yard centre. Treatments include massages, facials, body scrubs and body wraps, all personalised to each visitors needs. There's also a gym, a tennis court, a padel court and a basketball court, presided over by world class athletes, like Czech tennis champion, Karel Novacek. Or for a slower pace, you can join one of the yoga, pilates or meditation sessions that take place on the beach so you can tune in to the sound of the surf.

The food

There's three restaurants to choose from, including the fine-dining gastronomic adventure of Capogiro, which boasts residencies from Michelin-starred chefs. Locally grown and seasonally sourced ingredients help to celebrate traditional Sardinian cuisine, reimagined with a 2023 twist. Hero dishes include red mullet in a filindeau pasta crust and fettuccia pasta with marinated oysters and caviar. For something simpler, you can head to the pool-side restaurant, Spazio, which offers up healthy poké bowls, classic pizzas, salads and pasta. Or, head to the laidback, beachside Cone Club which opens for the summer.

The Cone Club

With its own private jetty, the Cone Club welcomes hotel residents as well as visitors arriving by boat. It even provides its own tender service to nearby yachts docked on the horizon. Nestled over the sea, it offers a relaxed atmosphere by day and into the night with day beds, a bar lounge and restaurant serving up music, cocktails and mediterranean dishes. And it's the perfect spot for a truly unforgettable sunset.
